News Item: : Appointment of Lord Lieutenants Cadet

On 26th May at 2519 (Strathmore) Squadron, Brigadier Melville Jameson CBE, The Lord Lieutenant of Perth & Kinross, was welcomed by Flight Lieutenant Roy Kemp, Officer Commanding Strathmore Squadron when he attended to present CWO Jemma Reid with her appointment certificate as his Lord Lieutenants Cadet for 2010 - 2011.

 

Wing Commander Colin McCrae, Officer Commanding Dundee Wing read out the application citation which covered Jemma’s career in the cadets.



Jemma has been in the cadets for over five years progressing through all the classification exams and is now an instructor cadet. She has risen through the cadet rank structure to her current rank of Cadet Warrant Officer.

 

CWO Reid receives her Badge and Certificate of AppointmentJemma has attended both blue and green camps throughout the UK and has also attended an Adveture Training camp at Windermere.

 

Jemma has flown in the Grob Tutor, Chinook, King Air and a Europa Monowheel, she has also completed her Glider Induction Courses and hopes shortly to be awarded a Gliding Scholarship. She has attended Basic and Intermediate Leadership Courses,as well as a Leadership for life Course.

 

In addition she holds a Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award and has now started her Gold Award. She has also been very active in recruiting on behalf of her Squadron.

 

Following the citation, Cadet Warrant Officer Jemma Reid was then presented with her certificate and Lord Lieutenants Badge by Brigadier Melville Jameson.

 

Finally Brigadier Melville Jameson addressed all the cadets and staff before wishing them, and especially CWO J. Reid, all the best for the future.

 

Following the event Brigadier Melville Jameson was invited for refreshments and met Jemma’s parents, family and the rest of the staff.
