On Saturday 19th June, Dundee and Central Scotland Wing, held it’s wing review at RAF Leuchars. The reviewing officer was Air Commodore Barbara Cooper CBE, who recently took up post as Commandant Air Cadets on 1st June.
As well as the formal parade, where the corps banner was paraded before the commandant, she also had the opportunity throughout the day to speak to both the Cadets and the Adult Staff as she toured the station seeing a wide range of cadet activities being undertaken.
Cadets were involved in various sports and on the Climbing Wall in the Gym, Cycling and National Navigation Award training was being undertaken in tentsmuir forest, as well as training on the Flight Simulator (both Fixed and Radio Control), VHF/HF radio training, First Aid Training, Leadership Training, Range work, Fieldcraft Training, Gun Run, Flying with 12 Air Experience Flight and working with Radio Controlled Models and other aviation projects in one of the hangers.
Air Commodore Cooper spent some time at each activity and was able to find out at first hand what is on offer to the cadets within the wing.
On the Saturday evening she was guest of honour at the Wing’s annual Dining In Night which was held in the sergeants mess at Leuchars.
